National selectors recalled veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak to the squad for the first of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from January 31.

Razzak is the third player to be added to the squad after Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the match with an injury sustained during the tri-series final on Saturday.

The 35-year-old's inclusion increases the size of the squad to 16 members, with the selectors having earlier called up left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam and leg spinning all-rounder Tanbir Hayder.

Razzak, who last played a Test in 2014 against the same opposition, makes his return to the Test side on the back of becoming the first Bangladeshi to scalp 500 first-class wickets, courtesy of consistent performances in the domestic circuit over the past few years.

Despite not having a fantastic Test record -- he has only  23 wickets to show from 12 games -- the cricketer from Khulna has been the leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket so this may finally be his reward for patiently carrying on with his game while constantly being overlooked in all three formats.
