Female medical student found dead in Rajshahi
A female student of Rajshahi Dental College was found dead at her residence in the city today.
The deceased was identified as Zannatul Wadia Mitu, a third-year student of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at the college under Rajshahi Medical College, and daughter of Matiur Rahman, principal of Baludanga Adarsha Degree College in Chapainawabganj, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent.
Mitu was found hanging from the ceiling of her room in their house at Baharampur Bank Colony in Rajshahi city this evening, said Hafijur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station
Mitu might have committed suicide, the OC added.
She returned home after attending an examination at her college this morning, her father Matiur Rahman said, adding that she was alone in the house.
Matiur said he informed police after finding the door was closed from inside and there was no response from her around 2:00pm.
Her classmates and friends at RMC said Mitu was a brilliant and social girl and they could not believe that she “committed suicide”.
Mitu was the education, research and statistics affairs secretary of RMC unit of Sandhani, a blood donors’ organisation, and executive member of Rajshahi Medical College Debate Club, they added.
