Expelled, SSC examinee jumps from 1st floor in Savar
A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) candidate today “attempted to take her own life” by jumping from the first floor of a three-storey building after she was expelled from the ongoing test in Savar.
Jannatul Ferdousi, a science group student of Savar Girls High School, was expelled for one year on charge of cheating during today’s Physics examination, said Ratan Peter Gomes, secretary of Savar Adhor Chandra High School examination centre.
“After sometimes of her expulsion, she jumped from the first floor to commit suicide,” he told our local correspondent.
She was taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex and later she was shifted to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) in Dhaka, said Savar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer (UHFPO) Amjaul Haque.
However, Beauty Begum, mother of Jannatul said, “I don’t know whether my daughter was involved in cheating or not, but the authority should have monitored her after the expulsion.”
