7 physicians denied permission to meet Khaleda

Jail authorities did not give permission to seven personal physicians of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to perform regular medical check-ups on her at the old central jail on Nazimuddin Road of Dhaka this afternoon.

The seven physicians are Professor Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Prof Doctor Md Shahabuddin, Prof Dr Md Abdul Kuddus, Prof Doctor S M Rafikul Islam Bachchu, Associate Prof Dr Saiful Islam Selim, Dr Md Faowaj Hosen Shuvo, and Dr Monowarul Kadir Bitu, the copy of an application The Daily Star has obtained, reads.

Their request for the meeting was denied by the jail superintendent around 2:20pm after they went to the Directorate of Prisons with the application seeking permission, jail sources said.

The physicians went to the jail gate around 12:30pm, it added.
