2 SSC examinees held over firing on Ctg cops

Police today arrested two SSC examinees in connection with firing on a policeman at a check post in Chittagong city on Friday.

The arrestees- Mainuddin Farid Rakib, 17, and Jubayer Hossen Prattoy, 17, are SSC examinees and they were arrested in Chittagong city’s Muradpur area, Inspector (investigation) Wali Uddin Akbar of Panchlaish Police Station told The Daily Star.

Miscreants opened fire on policemen at a checkpoint in the city’s Sholoshahar-Gate No. 2 on Friday evening when police intercepted three motorbikes. An assistant sub-inspector of police suffered bullet wound in the incident.

The law enforcers arrested one Abdul Hakim, 18, from the spot on the day. A case was filed with Panchlaish Police Station in this connection.

Later, police produced the trio to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Al Imran who sent them to jail, said Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Prosecution) Kazi Shahabuddin Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

The court also ordered to send the two SSC examinees to National Juvenile Development Centre in Tongi, he added.
