3 killed in Keraniganj road crash

Three people, including a CNG-run-auto-rickshaw driver, were killed as a truck crashed into the vehicle on Dhaka-Mawa Highway in South Keraniganj, on the outskirts of Dhaka, early today.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Chan Mia Fakir, 28, and two passengers-- Mohammad Sohel, 25, and Afzal Khan, 24, said Shawkhat Imtiaz, a sub-inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station.

The accident took place when the Dhaka city-bound truck hit the oncoming auto-rickshaw at Ekuria Bazar around 1:00am, leaving two passengers of the three-wheeler dead on the spot and driver Chan Mia injured, SI Imtiaz told The Daily Star.

Later, the injured was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
