Zafar Iqbal shifted to cabin from ICU
Eminent writer Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was shifted to a cabin from the Intensive Care Unit of Dhaka Combined Military Hospital this noon, a doctor said.
Maj Gen Munshi Md Mojibur Rahman, chief cardiac surgeon and consultant surgeon general of Bangladesh Armed Forces, told The Daily Star that Prof Iqbal was not having any difficulty doing his daily works.
He was having normal diet, reading newspaper and going to washroom without any assistance, the doctor said.
“It will take seven to eight days to remove the stitches from his wounds,” he said.
Prof Zafar Iqbal was overwhelmed with the love of the people, Maj Gen Munshi Md Mojibur Rahman said quoting the noted writer.
A youth, aged around 24-25, swooped on Prof Zafar Iqbal on Saturday while he was delivering his speech at a programme of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department at Mukta Mancha of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet.
The youth later identified as Foyzur Rahman, a madrasa student, said he carried out the attack as he considered Dr Zafar Iqbal as “an enemy of Islam”.
