Lalon remembered in Mymensingh
A group of artistes paid tribute to Fakir Lalon Shaiji by rendering his spiritual songs at Mymensingh Zila Shilpakala Academy auditorium Wednesday evening.
Shilpakala Academy authorities organised the evening marking the 125th death anniversary of the bard.
Academy artistes rendered some 20 songs of Lalon in a two-hour long programme.
The songs like -- “Satya Bol Supathe Chal”, “Jaat Gelo Jaat Gelo Bole”, “Dhanya Dhanya Boli Tare”, “Milon Hobe Kato Dine” and so on enthralled the capacity packed auditorium.
Eminent baul artiste of the country Sunil Karmaker also performed on the occasion.
The artistes were assisted by Probir Dey on tabla, Chhoton Nag on percussion, AKM Shahabuddin on flute while Ustad Anwar Hossain took on harmonium.
Dance sequences with the songs of Lalon, directed by Manash Talukder were also tasteful and revealed the need for proximity to divinity and humankind.
If we could follow the ideals of Lalon, we could easily build a congenial society, irrespective to caste, creed and religions, the speakers went on.
