Landlady killed, gold snatched in Dhaka

An unidentified criminal reportedly stabbed dead a landlady and snatched her gold ornaments at her flat at Paschim Nakhal Para of Dhaka today.

Deceased Amena Bwgum, 60, was the owner of a residential building ‘Rasul Vila’ in Paschim Nakhal Para area, police said.

Rauwshanara, daughter of Amena, told the Daily Star that her mother came to the ground floor from the 1st floor of the building responding a call by a man, who came here for renting the ground floor around 2:00pm.

Around 15 minutes after, Barsha, daughter-in-law (son’s wife) of the victim, came to the ground floor and found Amena lying on the floor with stab injuries.

She was rushed to Mohakhali Metropolitan Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Rauwshanara said the killer also snatched away around six talas gold of her mother.

Law enforcers are trying to arrest the killer, said Biplob Kumar Sarker, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
