March 7 speech quite different from other world great leaders': PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the historic 7th March Speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is quite different from that of other great leaders of the world.
"This 7th March Speech is one of the best speeches in the world, which is quite exceptional and different from that of any great world leaders," she said while addressing a seminar on the historic 7th March Speech in the city.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust Fund arranged the seminar titled 'Historic 7th March Speech and Bangabandhu's Political Wisdom' at Bangladesh Krishibid Institution Auditorium.
Loving people and sacrificing everything for them and enduring jail and repression, Bangabandhu in his 7th March Speech had given directives for what was necessary for liberating the country, Hasina said. "It's incomparable...it's our invaluable treasure."
Mentioning that the playing of the speech had completely been prohibited for 21 years after 1975, the Prime Minister said a generation heard distorted and fabricated history during the period.
The speech was a full guideline for the Liberation War, and freedom fighters drew inspiration by listening to it during the nine months of war, she said.
About the recognition of the 7th March Speech as a world documentary heritage by Unesco, Hasina said, "So, it's not only a model for us, but also for all the countries. It's a source of inspiration for all people who are struggling for freedom."
On October 30 last, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) recognised the Bangabandhu's historic 7th March Speech as a world documentary heritage.
