Road crashes kill 9 in Narsingdi
Nine people were killed in separate road crashes on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Narsingdi today.
Four people died after a bus ran over a motorcycle in Charabagh, Raipura upazila around 8:30am, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting AKM Kawsar, in-charge of Bhairab Highway Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Yamin Mia, 24, Sohag Mia, 17, Dalim Mia, 17, and Ramjan Mia, 17. Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue.
In Narsingdi Sadar, two motorcyclists died on the spot after a bus hit the motorcycle at Baghata around 12:00pm. The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Besdides, a bus ran over a rickshaw and a pedestrian at Madhabdi in the same upazila around 1:45pm, leaving rickshaw-puller and its passenger dead on the spot and the pedestrian injured, he added.
The passenger was identified as Ratan Mia, 44, but the identity of the rickshaw puller couldn’t be known. Pedestrian Mokbul, hailing from Mymensingh, was taken to a local clinic where on duty doctor declared him dead.
Three separate cases were filed with the concerned police station.
