‘We were blindfolded, taken to DB office’
Three students, who led the recent quota reform movement, were released hours after they were allegedly picked up by detectives this afternoon.
After being released, Faruk Hasan, Nurul Haq Nur and Mohammad Rashed, joint conveners of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Forum, claimed that they were picked up blindfolded from in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 1:00pm.
Addressing the press conference, Faruk Hasan, a joint convener of the forum, said, they were taken to the office of detective branch of police on Mintu Road.
“Around seven to eight motorbikes and two microbuses intercepted us in front of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital emergency gate,” said Hasan.
Around seven to eight armed men, introducing themselves as DB members, picked them up showing cause of possible life threat on them, he said adding that they were released around 2:30pm.
Earlier in the day, they held a press conference demanding dismissal of the cases filed against them during the quota reform movement.
