Rozina Akter, who lost her right leg in a road accident in the Dhaka’s Banani area on April 20, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this morning.
She breathed her last at the intensive care units (ICU) of the DMCH around 7:00am, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator at the hospital's burn unit, told The Daily Star.
Rozina, 18, was taken to the DMCH burn unit on April 25 from National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) as she had been suffering from respiratory problems.
On April 20, an Uttara-bound BRTC double-decker bus coming from Mohakhali hit Rozina, a domestic worker, while she was crossing the road in Chairman Bari area around 8:30pm.
The rear wheels of the bus ran over her right leg after she was hit by the vehicle.
She was rushed to Nitor immediately after the accident.
Hailing from Dhobauraupazila of Mymensingh, Rozina had been working at a house in Banani for nine years.
Rozina lost her leg three days after Rajib Hossain, a student who had lost his right hand after it got stuck between two buses in the city's Banglamotor area on April 3, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
