12-yr-old girl ‘raped’ in Laxmipur

A 12-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a peon at her school in Sadar upazila of Laxmipur.

Father of the victim filed a rape case with Chandraganj Police Station accusing peon Hasan Ahmed yesterday, said Md Jafar Ahmed, officer-in-charge (investigation) of the local police station.

Police are trying to arrest Hasan who remains absconding since the case was filed, our Noakhali correspondent reports.

The girl, a class five student, was admitted to the district’s Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Anwar Hossain, a doctor of the hospital, told our correspondent that he primarily found evidence of rape. “We find several injury marks on her body,” he said.
