Quota scrapping under 'active consideration': Ministry
The issue of scrapping quota system in public service is under 'active consideration' of the government, Senior Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan said today.
"The issue of quota is under active consideration of the government. Whenever the Prime Minister will give a directive, it will be implemented," he told newsmen at the Secretariat.
If required, committee will be formed for this, Khan said.
"We have all-out preparations. We will take steps as per the decision of the head of the government," he added.
Asked when the circular will be issued in this regard as per the remarks of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the senior secretary said, "We should wait for a while to issue the circular. We will take steps following the directive of the head of the government."
Replying to another question whether special measures will be kept for ethnic community and physically challenged candidates in recruitment for government jobs if quota system is abolished, he said the premier will definitely consider the matter.
