Active mobile connections reach over 15cr: BTRC
The number of active mobile connections in Bangladesh has reached 15.028 crore at the end of March this year, the telecom regulator says in a report.
According to the report published by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the mobile telecom industry has added around 51.70 lakh active mobile connections in the first three months of the year which helped to achieve the new milestone.
Out of the total mobile users, 51.57 percent have active internet connections, the report read.
Total internet connections in the country also reached 8.51 crore as of March, among which 7.75 crore are using internet through mobile phones, while there were 55.60 lakh active broadband connections in the country at that time.
The Wi-Max, which was a major internet service provider even a few years back, still has 86,000 active internet connections at the end of the first quarter of 2018, the BTRC report added.
