A man was killed allegedly by his cousin in Alamnagar area of Jakiganj municipality under Sylhet district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali, 50, son of late Arfij Ali of the area.

Police said Mohammad and his cousin Khalilur Rahman, 43, locked in an altercation over a piece of disputed land.

At one stage, Khalilur stabbed Mohammad, leaving him seriously injured.

He was rushed to the Jakiganj Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Khalilur went into hiding soon after the incident, said Md Shakwat Hossain, sub-inspector of Jakiganj Police Station.
