PM to visit Canada June 8-11
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay an official visit to Canada from June 8 to 11 at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to attend the ‘Leaders Outreach Session’ of the G-7 Summit.
The primer will hold bilateral meeting with her Canadian counterpart apart from meeting with other G-7 leaders and other world leaders participating in the outreach meeting, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told reporters at a press briefing at the foreign ministry this afternoon.
The theme of this year’s outreach session is “Healthy, productive and resilient oceans and seas, coasts and communities”, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will speak on “strengthening resilience through integrated adaptation planning, emergency preparedness and recovery” among other subjects.
At the bilateral meeting with the Canadian PM, Sheikh Hasina will discuss many important bilateral issues including trade and investment, helping each other to attain sustainable development, regular political consultations, and to help each other in the sector of blue economy.
They will also discuss about Rohingya issue, the minister said.
Saying that this is the third time that PM Sheikh Hasina has been invited to attend the G-7 Leaders Outreach Session, the minister added that this is an unprecedented incident for any prime minister from a developing country.
