It is a pro-people budget: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has trashed BNP's claims and said the budget has been placed considering the interest of the countrymen.
"The budget heeds the public interest and development. There is no any issue relating to the upcoming election in the budget," Quader said while talking to reporters at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj this noon.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith yesterday placed Tk 4,64,573 crore national budget for fiscal year 2018-19, setting the GDP growth target at 7.8 percent. It has been termed as a popularity-seeking budget based on unrealistic grounds.
Soon after placing the proposed budget, BNP came down heavily on the government for designing such big budget terming it as un-implementable.
Rejecting BNP's claim, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said his government is capable enough to implement the big budget.
"It is a big budget and a big challenge too. And, we are capable enough to implement the budget," Quader said.
Criticism from different quarters will come and the parliament members will reflect the people's aspiration if necessary through discussion on the proposed budget, he added.
