GCC polls: Plying of vehicles barred June 24-26

The authorities have imposed restriction on plying of different types of vehicles in Gazipur from June 24 midnight to June 26 midnight ahead of the Gazipur City Corporation elections.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges made the announcement in a press release this afternoon.

The restriction will be effective in case of auto-rickshaws, microbuses, jeeps, pick-ups, cars, buses, trucks, and human hauliers, according to the release.

Also, restriction has been imposed on plying of motorcycles from June 23 midnight to June 26 midnight.

The restrictions will be, however, relaxed for the candidates in the elections, their agents, and local and foreign election observers upon permission from the returning officer.

Vehicles for election officials, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services will be out of purview of the restriction, the release added.

Concerned district administration of Gazipur has been empowered to enforce the restriction.
