‘Masterminds of 1/11 changeover hatching conspiracy ahead of JS polls’
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that the masterminds of the political changeover of January 11 in 2007 are engaged in hatching conspiracy in a new dimension ahead of the upcoming general election.
"We know everything about who is going where. No conspiracy will bring any result. People will resist the masterminds," Quader came up with the remarks hinting BNP's recent tour to India and talks with the country’s think-tanks.
Pointing finger at the BNP leaders, Quader said the 1/11 masterminds have become more vibrant again as they are very busy now in holding meetings at home and abroad including Thailand.
The vested quarters are engaged in holding secret talks in Dhaka to draw a plan ahead of the next general election, the Awami League leader told a questioner claiming that he knows all the news.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a press conference after emerging from a meeting at the party president Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office in the capital this afternoon.
"BNP stood aside from the last general election ignoring everything. Is Awami League or Sheikh Hasina guilty for this?" Quader asked, adding that his party cannot allow the country's constitutional continuity to go in vain.
Claiming that Awami League has no headache whether BNP will join the next general election, Quader said, "It is BNP's political rights. It is also their (BNP) own concern. But, we will not create any hindrance on their (BNP) way to join the polls."
He blasted BNP leaders for knocking the doors of foreign diplomats and said the party men do not visit their own electoral area but bring allegation against the government before the foreign delegates ignoring the country's dignity.
