No bar on BNP leader Helal’s release following HC bail
The High Court today granted six-month bail to BNP leader Azizul Bari Helal in three criminal cases clearing the way for his release from jail.
The bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Md Suhrawardi granted the bail following three separate bail petitions in connection with the cases.
The cases were filed with Paltan, Motijheel and Ramna Police Stations on charges of vandalising vehicles and setting fire on them during anti-government agitation enforced by the BNP-led alliance in 2015, Advocate M Masud Rana, a lawyer for Azizul told The Daily Star.
There is now no legal bar for Azizul Bari to be released from jail following the High Court order of bail, he added.
Azizul bari, also a former president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), is accused in a total of 43 criminal cases and he secured bail in all the cases from the courts concerned, the lawyer said.
