Ctg madrasa teacher held for ‘abusing minor boys’

Police arrested a madrasa teacher today for allegedly abusing two minor boys sexually in Chittagong city's Rahattarpul area under Chandgaon Police Station.

The arrestee Saidur Rashid, 53, hailing from Bashkhali upazila in Chittagong, is a teacher of Hamidia Hafezia Sunniya Madrasa and Orphanage in Rahattarpul, our correspondent reports quoting police sources.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Warish said the teacher had sexually abused the two students inside the madrasa. The incident came to light after a student disclosed the matter to his guardian. 

Father of one of the victims filed a case against Saidur and his associate Jashim last night with Chandgaon Police Station, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

Police arrested the teacher from the madrasa while Jashim managed to flee.

Saidur confessed to the allegations during primary interrogation, the OC added.
