Badal brought back after 10yrs in Indian jail
A Bangladeshi youth, who has been serving life term imprisonment in Delhi's Tihar jail after being convicted in a murder case, was brought back home today.
Badal Farazi, 28, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka by a Jet Airways flight around 4:00pm, Md Moniruzzaman, additional deputy inspector general (intelligence and special affairs) of police headquarter, told The Daily Star.
Badal was brought under a bilateral treaty on “Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners,” signed with India around eight years ago, the police official said.
After completion of the due procedures, police took Badal to Dhaka central jail where he will have to stay for complete completion of his punishment, Moniruzzaman added.
Jahangir Kabir, superintendent of Dhaka Central Jail, said police handed Badal over to the jail around 7:20pm.
