Facial grooming for girls
Beauty is all about looking and feeling confident. If facial hair removal is something that brings more confidence to you, then why not go for it! And to help you with that, we're sharing some of the best ways of getting rid of all the unwanted hair, right from the comfort of your own home! All you need is the right tool and techniques, so let's get to it!
Threading
Threading is a popular way for facial hair maintenance at beauty parlours. But thankfully, this can easily be done at home as well!
All you need to do is cut off a piece of thread (20" length is preferable) and tie the ends. Next, you want to hold the newly formed loop with both hands and twist the thread in opposite directions. After twisting for around 10 times, the thread is all ready for use.
Hold the two ends between your index and thumb fingers. Now, keeping one of the hands steady, spread out the fingers of the other hand while you position the twisted part of the thread over the hair on your skin. Keep spreading the fingers wider and you'll start noticing the hair being plucked out. Threading does take a little practice so don't worry if you can't do it in the first try. Just keep following the steps mentioned and you'll be able to figure out the proper way to do it in no time!
Shaving
Yes, I know what you're thinking. Wouldn't shaving cause the facial hair to grow out thicker? Like that of a man's beard?
The answer is a big NO! It's a complete myth and shaving doesn't cause the hair to ever grow out thicker. Shaving your face, is in fact, great for your skin as it exfoliates along the way, removing the dead skin cells and leaving your skin smooth, and baby-soft.
But DO NOT use razors typically used to shave legs/beards. Those type of razors have 2/3 blades on them, which might cause irritation to your skin and be extremely aggressive.
Instead, find thinner razors with a single blade. Those are quite affordable (around Tk 60-Tk 350) and can be found at Mustafa Mart, Miniso and other similar stores. Sterilise the blade first, then pull your skin a little and start shaving gently in the opposite direction of your hair-growth. Trimmers are also another option. Veet has one for around Tk 2,000. If you have extremely sensitive skin, you are advised to avoid this method.
Facial Hair Removal Creams
For this method, you have to get a hair removal cream that specifically says that it's for facial hair. Do not use ones that don't mention it, because it's not the same and could cause severe skin damage if used on unspecified areas.
Two of our suggested creams are the ones by Nair and Veet. They are super gentle, and uproot hair in just 3-5 minutes. This method is painless, even though it's a bit more expensive. Be aware of not using bleaching products/methods for lightening facial hair. Bleach is a strong chemical that causes long-term harm for your skin. Avoid anything that may contain bleaching ingredients.
Homemade 'Wax'
This is a way of making and using wax at home, using all natural ingredients. All you need is sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir a cup of sugar in a pot and heat it. Next, add half a cup of water and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Keep stirring until the mixture becomes thick and sticky. Apply it on your face and wait for it to completely dry. Pull it off gently, and there you have your smooth, hairless skin!
Wax Strips
Wax strips for facial hair are available in local shops (e.g. the one by Veet). These are easy to use, but the con is that you get only one use out of the strip. Not the most wallet-friendly or painless but if it's something you're interested to try, it remains a viable option.
Laser Device
Laser devices have very recently surfaced, mainly on social media. These are fairly affordable (around Tk 2,500tk-Tk 3,000) and battery operated. These devices supposedly get facial hair uprooted using laser technology in an efficient, painless way. So far, this method has a good number of positive feedback, so it's definitely something you should consider.
Good Ol' Tweezers
For a super quick facial upkeep, nothing can beat our old-school tweezers! It's not recommended for a clean removal, but if you need a quick and precise removal, make sure to keep a pair of tweezers around!
We are all different individuals with different skin types and tolerances. If any of the above methods cause you any sort of issue/irritation, please do not continue with them. Always use a moisturiser after any kind of facial hair treatment, as this will cause your skin cells to calm down and reduce possibilities of irritation.
