Representing Bangla cinema in Seoul

The Bangladesh Film Festival which began on Friday in Seoul, came to an end yesterday. It was organised by the Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul to strengthen the cultural ties between Bangladesh and South Korea. The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Kim Kisun, Member of the National Assembly of South Korea and Chairman of Bangladesh-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group, at the Arirang Cine Centre in Seoul. A brief inaugural ceremony started with the national anthems of both the countries, followed by the welcome remarks of Abida Islam, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Korea.

Haldaa, which won four awards at the 8th SAARC Film Festival, was screened as the opening film at the ceremony. Other films that were scheduled include Doob (No Bed of Roses), Khacha (The Cage), and Swapnajaal. English and Korean subtitles were added to the e films for the benefit of the foreign audience. The participation of Korean and Bangladeshi movie lovers was evident during the event.

Ambassadors of Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Zambia, members of diplomatic corps from Russia, Italy and Rwanda, President of the Korea Culture Association, Chairman of Korea Importers' Association (KOIMA) and representative of Hanna Multicultural Centre attended the inaugural program and also the screening of Haldaa.
