BRTC bus workers of Joar Sahara depot go on strike
Transport services in Dhaka have been disrupted as BRTC bus workers of Joar Sahara depot went on a sudden strike since this morning to press home their demand for arrears.
Around 500 agitated workers of Bangladesh Road and Transport Corporation (BRTC) padlocked the gate of the depot in Joar Sahara around 6:00am shutting down the service of 120 buses including 30 that carry government staff, a bus driver, seeking anonymity, told The Daily Star.
Consequently, plying of the BRTC buses on Abdullahpur-Motijheel, Tongi-Motijheel and Gazipur-Motijheel routes has remained suspended.
The transports workers claimed that they have not been given their salaries since November, 2017.
Meanwhile, several BRTC high-ups have already gone to the bus depot to negotiate with the agitating workers. However, the strike was going on till last reported.
