"I have no desire for material things" - Babita
Having appeared in over a hundred films, Babita is undoubtedly one of the most illustrious actors that the country has ever seen. She has earned accolades at home and abroad for her performances, including the National Film Award. Recently she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award in recognition for her unparalleled contributions to Bangladesh's film industry. Today, the nation celebrates Babita's birthday. The actor is currently in Canada. The Daily Star has reached out to her over the phone for an honest interview.
How do you plan to celebrate your birthday?
Babita: My son Anik lives in Canada, so I plan to celebrate it there with him. He is everything to me, and so, there is no better way for me to celebrate my birthday.
What will you miss about Bangladesh while you are away?
Babita: I will miss the people, and my home. However, as my son is away for his higher education, I have to move there to accompany him for a while.
What kinds of presents do you like receiving?
Babita: First and foremost, love and prayers make me the happiest. I do also receive a huge amount of flowers on this day, which I look forward to as well.
You have received many awards during your lifetime. What do you hope to achieve next?
Babita: I would like the continued love and support from my fans, family, friends, and acquaintances. I have no desire for material things.
How do you feel about your birthdays at this age?
Babita: I used to be very excited during this time of the year when I was younger. However, now I just feel that life is moving too fast.
