Hridoy mixes it up with 'HK Production'

As an artiste, Hridoy Khan is best described as an innovator. Since his debut with Hridoy Mix back in 2007, he has kept on experimenting with different genres and styles. Recently, Hridoy Khan started HK Production, which is a project where he would not only record the audio, but direct videos for his songs as well. The Daily Star has a candid chat with the accomplished musician, who has an exclusive announcement to make!

You said that you would announce something exclusively in the interview. Could you tell us what the good news is?

I am extremely happy to tell you that my YouTube channel will be the first in Bangladesh to be a verified 'YouTube Official Artist Channel.' When you visit my channel after one or two days, you will see a musical note beside the verification sign.

We have heard that you have started a label of your own. What do you plan to achieve with it?

To be honest, I had been thinking about this for a long time, but never really had the opportunity to do so until now. I have experimented with photography and video-making for quite a while, and I have researched, learned and in fact, am still learning on how to make a complete music video all by myself. This platform gives me more freedom to do things the way I envision them, and therefore, I am very happy with it.

Do you plan to promote new artistes in your initiative?

Absolutely. In fact, I did that in my debut album Hridoy Mix. Up until the third installation of this project, I gave opportunities to singers who had never sung professionally before, and Hridoy Mix 4 is on its way.

What advice do you have for budding music directors and singers?

Don't be influenced by anyone else. Work on your own sound and style, only then will you be truly successful. I have personally always tried to evolve as an artiste, and have made a conscious effort to change it up with my sound and mixing. A musician should always know how to think out of the box.
