“Jol Abeg” observes Nazrul's death anniversary
“Jol Abeg”, a forum of painters in Mymensingh observed the 42nd death anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Marking the occasion, they organised a workshop styled “Water Colour Workshop” to sketch the portraits of the bard at Udichi Mymensingh Zila Sangsad hall room.
Mukul Dutta, deputy keeper of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery); secretary of Udichi Mymensingh Jishutosh Talukder; and coordinator of “Jol Abeg Nazmul Hossain Rahat were present, among others.
Mohammad Rajon, coordinator of the workshop said the initiative was first of its kind to observe Nazrul's death by the forum in Mymensingh.
Three of the 20 participating artistes were awarded for their work.
Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University in Trishal also observed the poet's death anniversary on Monday, by holding a talk on the poet's achivements. Institute of Nazrul Studies of the university organised a programme on campus.
Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman; dean of Business Administration Faculty Prof Dr Subrata Kumar Dey, registrar Humayun Kabir, Teachers Association President Tapon Kumar Sarker and assistant director of Institute of Nazrul Studies Rashedul Anam addressed the talk.
