Sehri Tales pages before dawn
Long-time writer for the youth, journalist and a youth icon, Sabrina Fatma Ahmad finally wrote her first book, 'Sehri Tales,' which has been published by yet another first timer in the field, Worthy Publications. Yesterday, the book was launched at Baatighor, the famous bookstore in the capital and attended by lots of young book lovers and readers.
The book is filled with poetry, haikus and prose written over a period of three years. During the month of Ramadan every year, Sabrina would write a few lines after having her sehri, the early morning meal before fazr prayers. These lines would be reflections of her thoughts, fun haikus on the food that she cooked or even something she experienced on her way to work that day. “In 2016, I was going through my worst, in terms of creativity and writing,” says Sabrina. “Writing these lines every day helped me get out of the block. Writing, after all, is therapeutic.”
Clearly, for Baatighor, yesterday was not a regular Friday. Teeming with young readers from all over the city, Sehri Tales sold quite a number of copies. Copies of Sehri Tales are available at the bookstore. Make sure to pick one up, if you have not already!
