SC to hold hearing on Oct 1
The Supreme Court yesterday fixed October 1 for hearing the petitions by the government seeking a stay on the High Court bail to BNP leader Amir Khasru in two cases filed in Dhaka and Chittagong.
“There are specific allegations against the BNP leader of conspiring against the state,” said Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir, citing the petitions.
The cases were filed on August 4 against the BNP leader on charges of provoking the student protests for safe roads and also conspiring with a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader to destabilise the country.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, chamber judge of the Appellate Division, sent the petitions to the full bench and fixed October 1 for the hearing.
“The HC bail to Amir Khasru will remain in force until a further order of the SC,” his lawyer Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman said.
