BNP wants to meet home minister Sept 9 over Khaleda’s health issue
BNP has sought schedule to meet Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on September 9 to talk about the health condition of the party’s imprisoned Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Seeking the home minister’s schedule, Khaleda Zia’s personal secretary ABM Sattar sent a letter to the home ministry on September 6, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of Khaleda Zia’s media wing, told The Daily Star this evening.
A 10-member delegation led by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wants to meet the home minister on the day, he said.
The BNP chief has been staying at the old Dhaka central jail in the capital’s Nazimuddin Road after she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8 this year.
Khaleda has received bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case, but several courts ordered her arrest in different cases on various charges including arson and vandalism, instigating violence, defamation and distortion of history.
