FIDE Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman became champion in the CJKS-Four H Group-Diamond Cement Grandmaster's Chess Tournament, which concluded at the MA Aziz Stadium Auditorium in Chittagong yesterday.

Fahad and IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad of India both earned seven points each after the 10th and final.

Fahad was adjudged champion due to having better average rating than his opponent.

Four players finished with 6.5 points each.

In tie-breaking system, GM Ziaur Rahman became third, GM Lalith Babu of India became fourth, GM Abdullah Al Rakib became fifth and GM Niaz Murshed became sixth.

Four others finished with six points each. Nilash Saha of India finished seventh, IM Minhaz Uddin finished eighth, Taibur Rahman finished ninth and Syed Mahfuzur Rahman rounded out the top 10.

The event was held in Swiss League system. A total of 30 players from Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Nepal including five GMs, three IMs and one WIM participated. A total of 5000 dollars of cash prize was awarded among the winners.
