Dhikkar Amay – Gods Must Be Crazy
A large portion of the audience of rock music today is left relatively uncatered to- ones I would like to call 'nostalgia-mongers.' There are a lot of people who just want pure, unadulterated hard-rock, much like the days when Artcell reigned supreme and underground concerts were still 'in'.
Gods Must Be Crazy is a relatively unknown band, but when I discovered their recently launched Dhikkar Amay on YouTube, I was impressed to say the least. The song tells the story of a depressed individual who blames himself for his misfortunes. When the song starts, the keyboard, guitar and bass-line nestle cozily alongside the vocal line. It harnesses an air of lazy, but powerful groove while the vocalist is precise in his mixture of melody and strength. The song moves towards a crescendo, but retains its slow tempo and its laid-back elegance. I would compare the feel of this song to Artcell's Dhushor Shomoy, an underrated classic by the former kings of Bangladeshi hard rock.
The Gods Must Be Crazy, in my opinion has insane potential as a band. If they deliver on their promise of a full-length album, old-school fans of rock have a lot to look forward to.
