International days we need but don't have
We have been recording history and special events for a long time now. Moreover, in the present age, it is far easier to celebrate new things, trends and days than it was before. However, there are still some things that need to be celebrated but unfortunately we don't have special days to celebrate them. Some of them are:
SENSELESS VIOLENCE DAY
People died in wars hundreds of years ago, and people continue to die in wars today. Many of these people never wanted to be a part of these wars but suffer the consequences nonetheless. However, senseless violence occurs not only in the large-scale but also in the small-scale by individuals or small groups over something as trivial as who called whom what. There is no sense to this violence and there seems to be no signs of the end of this type of needless violence so might as well have a day to remember how needlessly violent we human beings can be.
WASTED POTENTIAL DAY
No, I am not referring to parents who say their child has wasted their potential when they became something besides a doctor or engineer. I am referring to parents who have children who chose a profession of their parent's choice despite having dreams of their own that didn't match the ones their parents had for them. These are the children who could've been amazing, happy and successful if they pursued their passions, because the technology available today really has made it easier to work in non-traditional fields. There are way too many people in this category, so a day to celebrate them is a must.
UNNECESSARY FRIENDSHIP MILESTONES DAY
Friendships matter, but now, showing that you have friends and that you have a real special bond with them to people who don't matter also matters. With our obsession with preserving life over actually experiencing life, keeping records of the number of days you maintained a streak with someone by sending them memes about a four-panel comic is very important. Who says you can't quantify friendship? People who don't know about social media of course. We should therefore make this an official day so that Facebook reminds you about it and you don't forget to celebrate your relationship with this very special person by posting the same video Facebook makes for everyone.
POINTLESS ARGUMENTS DAY
One of the many things the internet has made free, accessible and sharable are the arguments people have about important issues such as goth vs unicorn ice-cream or whether it puts unnecessary pressure on someone if you label them as best friend forever. Now, you can be aware of the needless arguing of not only the people you live with and the people you live close to but also strangers from all over the world. You can also engage in these discussions yourself and share screenshots of your fights with as many people as you want. So it only makes sense that we have a special day to remember how we contribute to society by bickering and swearing at each other without finding any solutions for actual problems.
