3 ‘smugglers’ held with 60 gold bars in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of three members of an international gold smuggling racket from Fakirapool area of Dhaka.

They identified the arrestees as Md Mizanur Rahman, 30, Mojidul Islam, 50, and Md Riazul Islam, 35, said a press release floated to the media.

Rab seized about 60 gold bars weighing around 6Kg from their possession.

The three alleged smugglers worked as middlemen in smuggling the gold bars to various areas of the country including Benapole and Jashore, the release said.

Procedures were underway to lodge a case against them.
