'Don’t plunge polls into controversy'
Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has urged the Election Commission (EC) not to plunge the national election into controversy.
“Please don’t make controversy by taking any hurried decision,” he said at a programme held at the National Press Club in Dhaka today.
“You will be held responsible to the history,” Chowdhury, also chief of Jukta Front, said.
Yesterday, the Election Commission announced the schedule for the 11th parliamentary election fixing the election date on December 23 amid calls for a delay.
In his impromptu reaction, Badruddoza Chowdhury had requested the CEC to hold the national election on December 30 instead of December 23.
Today, at the programme, Prof Chowdhury underscored the need for army deployment to hold a free, fair and acceptable general election.
