SC lawyer 'goes missing'
A Supreme Court lawyer has remained missing after unidentified persons allegedly picked him up from the city's Karwan Bazar area on Thursday afternoon, family sources claimed.
A group of plainclothes men identifying themselves as detectives picked up Barrister Zubair Ahmed Bhuiyan around 1:30pm, alleged his sister Ferdoshe Begum.
He was the former president of Dhaka University unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
“They took Zubair to his Bijoy Nagar office around 4:00pm and picked up one Bashir,” she said, adding Zubair was spotted inside a microbus by his office staff and another lawyer.
When Zubair's staff insisted for their identity, one of the men identified himself as DB Assistant Commissioner Sahadat, Ferdoshe Begum said quoting her brother's colleagues.
“We are very worried as he is traceless,” she said, demanding police to produce him before a court if he has committed any crime.
Contacted, Assistant Commissioner Sahadat Hossain of Detective Branch of DMP said they did not pick up Zubair.
“We are looking for him and one of his associates,” Sahadat added.
