‘Politics won’t hinder my focus on cricket’
Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that his political career will not hinder his duties with the Bangladesh national team.
"I don't think it will hinder my cricket at all. At this moement I am not involved with the proceedings there (election and campaigning) and my focus is totally on practice. After 14th I will concentrate on those and up till then I want to concentrate wholly on cricket," Mashrafe said.
The Cricketer was talking to reporters as Bangladesh gear up for the ODI series against the Windies after Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan led them to a 2-0 whitewash over the visitors. Questions were asked of Mashrafe, who has been undergoing training on his own, about whether his responsibilities as a politician will impact his cricket. Mashrafe said that he did not want any further questions on politics during the series and that is why he called the press conference today.
"Before the matches I wanted to talk with you so that during the series there is no more politics related questions," Bangladesh's beloved captain said. He will contest in the upcoming elections for Awami League.
