Grand festival of victory concludes at BSA
December is the month of victory. To celebrate the victory in grandeur, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) arranged a weeklong (December 21-27) grand festival that concluded yesterday. To reach the pinnacle of advancement with the touch of art following an irresistible journey towards progress, the BSA authority invited diverse performing artistes from all corners of Bangladesh to entertain audience at the festival.
Apart from discussion, the daily arrangement included Liberation War based film screening, performance of solo and choral songs, poetry recitation, display of riveting dance set on spirited and patriotic songs, staging parts of theatre productions, acrobatic and mime shows, and an array of folk themed presentations.
“Bangladesh can take pride in its opulent heritage of folk culture diffused and originated all across the country. We, on behalf of BSA, would like to pay a deep homage to the folk artistes of Bangladesh through paving them platforms for performance,” said Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA, while presenting an uttario to Kajol Dewan and Bably Dewan following their performance of palagaan at the end of the sixth day (December 26) of the festival.
Kajol, the son of illustrious bard Matal Razzak Dewan, paired with Bably to perform the bahas styled musical sawal-jawab based on the 'male and female'. It is interesting to note that palagaan boasts of entertaining audience with the performers' instant and impromptu presentation. The duo, each playing violin, was accompanied by several other musicians. The melodic ambience they created through the performance of throwing questions to each other was thought-provoking. The audience got thoroughly enthused and could not help but sway with the performers.
Liaquat Ali Lucky appeased the ambience, reciting the excerpt Bishwer ja kichhu mohan srishti/ Chiro kalyankor/ Ordhek taar koriyachhe nari/ Ordhek taar nor from the Kazi Nazrul Islam poem Nari. He also declared that BSA will invite the duo to perform palagaan next month.
The penultimate day's event also included dance display by the artistes of Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts and Shikor Cultural Organisation; music performance by Ibne Rajon, Anima Mukti Gomes, Sohan, Luipa and Palash and parts of theatre productions Dweep and Roktowrin by Natyatirtha and Tirandaj Natyadal respectively.
