The greatest creations of Mrinal Sen

Mrigayaa : Featuring  Mithun Chakraborty, the film portrays the relationship between the British colonialists and native villagers, and their exploitation by Indian landlords in 1920s India. The film won Mrinal Sen a National Award for Best Film.

Khandahar: This 1984 Bengali classic is weaved around a group of friends who go for a picnic in some rural ruins, and find a mother-daughter duo that live there.

Ek Din Pratidin: This 1979 film raises some vital questions on gender norms, and is a cult classic in its own right.

Calcutta 71:  Documenting the agony of common people, Calcutta 71 narrates the violence and corruption throughout ages. The film is based on 4 short stories by reputed writers. All the stories are connected or interlinked to give a powerful statement.
