Yeah, sports. It's in the game.
BPL. Who's watching? Not me.
And I'm pretty sure you aren't. Cricket, and every other sport in Bangladesh, requires proper infrastructure – plans, support, and finally development – if we even want to have a seat at the table where the big boys talk. If we want to host international sporting events, regardless if we participate in it or not, there is no alternative to nurture the talent from the grassroots level. Even if we have to stoop to a level like in the book There's Only Two David Beckhams by John O'Farrell; highly recommended.
The BPL I grew up to know and love is the Barclays Premier League of England. Monday Night Football, Nokia Football Crazy, and that adrenaline-filled Sportscenter – those were the beautiful days. The lion logo and Fire by Kasabian theme music were part of our lives.
The madness that is football rages on. In the famous words of Sir Alex, “Football, bloody hell!”
