Two minor girls raped
A nine-year-old madrasa student on Sunday was raped by her teacher in Savar's Ashulia area while another girl, aged about 14, was raped by a boy of her age in Madaripur's Shibchar upazila on the same day.
Both the incidents came to light when the families of the girls filed cases against the perpetrators with the local police stations yesterday.
In Ashulia, a second grader of Tamirul Quran Mohila Madrasa was allegedly raped by Abdullah Al- Mamun, 32, a teacher of the madrasa.
According to the case statement, the girl went to the madrasa around 8:00am. After returning home around noon, she told her aunt that Abdullah took her to his room inside the madrasa and raped her.
Javed Masud, inspector (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station, said they had sent the girl to the One Stop Crisis Center at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests.
The accused has been on the run since the incident, he added.
In Madaripur, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy in Shibchar upazila.
Victim's elder brother said the boy had long been making improper advances towards his sister on her way to school.
“On the day of the incident, the boy came to our house around 2:00pm when no one was there except my sister and raped her,” he said, adding that the locals rescued his sister hearing her screams, but could not capture the boy.
She is currently receiving treatment at Madaripur General Hospital, he added.
However, a cousin of the accused told The Daily Star that the boy had no relation with the girl. Her family is making false allegations against the boy and his family.
Uttam Prasad Pathak, additional superintendent of police in Madaripur, said, “The victim's elder brother filed a case against the boy, including some other unidentified people for assisting him, with Shibchar Police Station yesterday.
“We are trying to arrest the culprit,” he added.
