UAP Photography Club arranges photography exhibition and competition

The UAP Central Photography Club arranged a photography exhibition and competition titled "Moment of My Presence". The competition was held at UAP Plaza on January 30-31, 2018 in association with Directorate of Students' Welfare (DSW). At the exhibition, 45 photographs were displayed; six were awarded. Air Cdre (Retd.) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer distributed the prizes as chief guest. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. MR Kabir, Pro-VC, UAP while Saumyabrata Roy, UAP Photography Club Adviser was present among others.

IUBAT signs MoU with University of Algarve, Portugal

The University of Algarve, Portugal and International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two universities for establishing and developing a close partnership to promote academic and cultural exchanges between the two institutions through mutual assistance, especially in the areas of teaching and research.

Dr. Julio Da Costa Mendes, Professor of University of Algarve, and Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, VC of IUBAT signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

IUBAT Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Hamida Akhtar Begum; Registrar Prof Md. Lutfar Rahman; Controller of Examinations Brig. Gen. Dr. Md Zahid Hossain (Retd.); Chairman CTHM Sk Ershad Hossain; Director Alumni Office AKM Sharfuddin; and Deputy Director, International Programs Md Sadekul Islam were present in the signing ceremony.

IUB tops RWU's Bangladesh university rankings

Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) has been ranked as number one university in Bangladesh by Webometrics' Ranking Web of Universities (RWU).

RWU is produced by the Cybermetrics Lab, a unit of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the main public research body in Spain, which is universally recognised as one of the top European R&D institutions. The RWU uses four criteria for ranking: Presence, Visibility, Transparency (Openness), and Excellence (Scholar), compiling the data from reliable prestigious open data sources like Google, Ahrefs, Majestic, Google Scholar Citations, and Scimago (based on the Scopus data).

The RWU includes 147 Bangladeshi public and private universities and medical colleges. IUB, ranked 1st in Bangladesh, was also ranked 859th among the 11,852 Asian universities (excluding the Middle East), 124th among the 4,479 universities in South Asia, and 3,006th among the 28,000+ universities in the world.

NSU organises faculty orientation and training programme for Spring 2019

A three-day long Faculty Orientation and Training Program for Spring 2019 was held at North South University (NSU) on January 20-22, 2019, jointly organised by the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) and the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The orientation program was attended by 30 new faculty members from eleven departments.

At the beginning of the orientation programme, Director of OGS Prof. Dr. Sharif Nurul Ahkam and Director of IQAC Dr. Nazmun Nahar delivered the welcome address to the new faculty members. VC Prof. Dr. Atiqul Islam and Pro-VC (Designate) Prof. Dr. GU Ahsan appreciated the joint effort made by the IQAC and the OGS for organising such an orientation.

In the span of three days, there were different sessions focusing on administrative rules and regulations at NSU, including a special segment on the usage of library resources and IT services at NSU. Moreover, there was an interactive session in which the faculty members were divided into groups and asked to develop and present demo course outlines focusing on Outcome Based Education strategy. The program ended with vote of thanks from the directors and the participants.

UIU students get employment opportunity in Japan

Nine computer science and engineering graduates of United International University (UIU) have secured jobs in a Japanese firm named Human Resocia Co. Ltd through direct recruiting process on the university campus recently.

Venturas Ltd conducted an interview of 51 students of CSE Department for prospective jobs in Japan and selected six candidates directly through the interview process while the remaining three passed through an online technical assessment to secure their appointment. The interviews followed a seminar organised by the university's CSE Department.

Oriko Ueda, founder and CEO of Venturas Ltd, a Japanese company and UIU VC Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman were present in the seminar.

EU hosts Admission Fair for Spring 2019

A three-day long Admission Fair for Spring 2019 has started at Eastern University (EU). The Admission Department of the university organised the fair at their Dhanmondi campus.

The fair was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Admission Committee Ali Azam, Member, Board of Trustees. The inauguration ceremony was held on February 4, 2019.

Besides the guests, EU Trustee Board Chairman Liaquat Hossain Moghul; Former Chairman Abul Khair Chawdhury; VC Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain; Treasurer AS Mahmud; Registrar Abul Basher Khan; Deans, Faculty Member, and students were present at the inauguration ceremony.
