Man involved in ‘fake question paper leak’ held
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members today claimed to have detained a man involved in fake question paper leak in Dhaka.
Tipped off, a team of Rab-1 conducted a drive at 300-feet road in the capital’s Khilkhet area yesterday evening, according to a press release of the Rab-1.
The detainee, Md Sajib Hossain, 21, of Gazipur’s Kapasia area, was found to have involvement in leaking fake question papers of different public and recruitment examinations, the release read.
Sajib, a first-year honours student, is a member of a gang involved in leaking fake question papers.
He used to prepare fake question papers from questions of previous years and sold those to students and guardians through Facebook messenger, WhatsApp and other social media platforms to amass money via bKash, according to the release.
The elite force seized two mobile phones with evidence, it adds.
Different gangs had been leaking questions of public exams and government recruitment tests included government officials, schoolteachers, printing press employees and Dhaka University students.
On January 31, two major rackets have been busted with the arrest of 46 members and ringleaders in the last one and a half years, the Criminal Investigation Department said.
In the last four or five years, these organised gangs struck deals with government job and public university admission seekers in exchange for hefty sums, and helped many to cheat their way into universities and government posts.
