‘Drug peddler’ killed in 'gunfight’ with rivals in Meherpur
An alleged drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of illegal drug traders in Gangni upazila of Meherpur early today.
Police identified the deceased as Budu Seikh, 35, son of Jurad Ali of Pirtola in Gangni upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
Sub-inspector Ajay Das, in-charge of Pirtola police camp, said they received information that two groups of drug smugglers were exchanging fire at Harabhanga village around 2:30am.
When a team of police from the camp rushed to the village at about 3:00am, they found a body lying on the spot, the SI said.
Police also found one kilogramme of hemp, 20 bottles of phensidyl and a one shutter gun from the scene.
Later, police identified the dead as Budu Seikh, a listed drug smuggler and accused in seven drug cases filed with Gangni Police Station.
