Woman stabbed dead in Kishoreganj
A woman has been stabbed to death in Kishoreganj's Karimganj upazila.
Her husband, who admitted the murder, has been sent to jail through court, our local correspondent reports quoting police.
The deceased has been identified as Proggya Mustafa, 23, a third year honours student at Kishoreganj Govt Mohila College.
Her husband, Delwar, hailing from Chandpur, used to press her for dowry often, said Md Mominul Islam, officer-in-charge of Karimganj Police Station.
Proggya gave birth to a daughter three months ago but the pressure for dowry did not stop, he said quoting family members and neighbours.
Delwar said to have stabbed Proggya in the head and neck with a knife over demand of Tk 2 lakh dowry yesterday, killing her on the spot, the OC said.
Her father Md Ahsan Mustafa, a high school headmaster of Laimpasha village in Itna, filed a case accusing Delwar with Karimganj Police Station.
Delwar's statement was recorded under Section-164 at court today and he was sent to jail, said court inspector in Kishoreganj Toufiq Ahmed.
