40 smuggled parrots rescued in Panchagarh
Forest officials rescued forty parrots during a smuggling bust in Panchagarh town today.
Forest officers intercepted a Sirajganj-bound bus at Chowrongi intersection and found the birds in cages, our local correspondent reports.
Madhu Sudan Borman, assistant officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Range Forest Office, said the birds were caught using traps in Tentulia, Dinajpur.
"One Abdul Jabbar caught the birds and sold them to a smuggler Mojibul Huq in Natore," he said. "They have been smuggling birds for a long time."
The parrots were later released to the wild.
No arrests were made during the bust.
