UP member murdered in Khagrachhari

A union parishad member was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals in Khagrachhari Sadar upazila this morning.

Deceased Kalibondhu Tripura, 60, was the member of ward 5 of Sadar union, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

Kalibondhu was ambushed by a group of miscreants in Nunchhari area around 11:30am, said MM Salahuddin, additional superintendent of police in the district.

The attackers indiscriminately stabbed Kalibondhu, leaving him dead on the spot and seven others injured, the police official added.

Police are suspecting the murder is a culmination of previous enmity.

Notably, two people were killed in a clash in May 2017. Kalibondhu, who stood accused in the murder case, recently secured bail.
